whew....
Tonight was the last night of VBS! I made it through, and really enjoyed it after all. Even when my helper didn't show up and I had seven 4 yr olds all to myself!!! We had a blast painting and taking pictures and making puppets and all kinds of other stuff that I can't exactly think of right now! I'm also very happy to be able to tell ya'll (all 2 of you that will actually read this) this.... I could definitely tell a difference in the children's behavior from Monday night to Friday night.
Example:
Monday- "children, lets go back to class"
... What they actually did- went to everyone else's class and peaked in
Friday- "children, lets go back to class"
... What they acutally did- went back to our class and even though they were tempted to go and look in other classes.. they didn't!!!!
Monday- "everyone have a seat at the table please"
... What they acutally did- continued to play and pretended like they never heard the english language before in their whole.entire.lives.
Friday- "everyone have a seat at the table please"
... What they acutally did- found a seat and sat waiting (even thought it was noisily) for me to help them or teach them or feed them!!
I was amazed at the progress! I was also very sad that it was our last night together and that by Sunday I'll be back in the Primary class (8-9 year olds). The following conversation took place between me and two of my toddlers while I was feeling a wee bit sad about the whole VBS ending thing...
ME: so did ya'll have fun this week??
Them: yeah!!!
ME: are ya'll gonna miss me?
Them: yeah!!!
ME: I'm gonna miss ya'll too...
Boy: well, we gonna come back tomorrow
ME: well, if you come back tomorrow you'll be by yourself. I'll be home resting!!! (end of mushiness!! ready to get back to regular scheduling!!)
Usually when teaching the nursery class it is so easy to just say "oh they're little, it'll be just like babysitting". But all the other classes get to do crafts and stories and other neat stuff that I decided to try my hardest to do the same with them. I must say that all the crafts were enjoyed by everyone..
Good nite.. tomorrow is coming early!! Our surprise will officially be arriving!!!
